Training Report of Foreign Entries
Japan Cup (G1)
November 23, 2011 (Wednesday)
<At Tokyo Racecourse>
Weather: Fine Going: Firm (turf course), Standard (dirt course)
Sarah Lynx (IRE, F4, bay)
- walked 1/4 lap, jogged 1/4 lap, walked (5 min.), jogged 1/4 lap, lightly cantered 1/2 lap, on dirt course, and walked in exercise arena
(exercised from 8:00 AM to 8:41 AM, ridden by Kate Bradley)
“She’s in better condition than when she was in Canada. She’s improving by the day and she’s thriving. She’s eating well and drinking well considering the long transportation she’s been through. During the five weeks in between Canada and here, she was out in the paddocks in Chantilly and has been well-rested. She’s a horse that doesn’t need that much work. Our trainer will be here tomorrow and will give us instructions, but I think she’ll be doing the same kind of light work she did this morning.”

Shareta (IRE, F3, bay)
- walked 1/4 lap, jogged 1/4 lap, walked (5 min.), jogged 1/4 lap, lightly cantered 1/2 lap, walked 1/4 lap, cantered 1/4 lap, on dirt course, and walked in exercise arena
(exercised from 8:00 AM to 8:41 AM, ridden by Jeremy Lobel)
“She is maintaining the same good form as she was before her last start. We are scheduled to gallop her on Thursday or Friday. I think the fast track here will work to her advantage. Danedream is a strong horse and it will be difficult to reduce the five lengths she put between us, but Christophe Lemaire, who knows this filly well, will be in the saddle. She’s a filly that can run at her own pace no matter what kind of race it turns out to be.”

Danedream (GER, F3, bay)
- jogged, cantered, galloped on dirt course
(7F: 93.2 – 78.6 – 64.6 – 51.2 – 37.3 – 12.3)
(exercised from 8:00 AM to 8:16 AM, ridden by Andrasch Starke)
“I asked the jockey to drive her a bit strongly in the last 600m. We used the dirt course because the turf was a bit too firm, but I’m very satisfied with the condition she is in.
She’s in the same form as she was for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, so our hopes are high. Her strong point is that she responds very well in the last 400m, and can display her strength no matter what kind of race development or course she encounters.”
(comments taken from Peter Schiergen)
“She seems to be in the same good condition as she was before the Arc, so I hope she can maintain it till the day of the race. If she does, the results will be the same because the race will be on the same kind of fast track.”

Mission Approved (USA, H7, bay)
-lightly cantered 1 lap, brisk canter 1/4 lap, right-handed on turf course
(exercised from 7:15 AM to 7:25 AM, ridden by Naipaul Chatterpaul)
“We did a brisk canter at the end of his training this morning, and I’m happy with his condition. I think the slightly dry and firm Japanese track will suit him on the day of the race. We will do the same kind of work tomorrow.”
