Training Report of Foreign Entries
Japan Cup (G1)

November 22, 2011 (Tuesday)

<At Tokyo Racecourse>

Mission Approved (USA, H7, bay)

-jogged right-handed 2 laps, on dirt course
(exercised from 7:18 AM to 7:34 AM, ridden by Naipaul Chatterpaul)

"After a day of rest, he was very fresh this morning—maybe too fresh, so we let him jog two laps instead of one. Basically, horses jog right-handed and gallop left-handed when they train in the U.S. That"s why he jogged right-handed this morning. He goes stronger when he"s moving left-handed. He"s probably 80, 85% fit at this point. His training from tomorrow on will be just some slow cantering."

Following horses entered in the 31st Japan Cup were transported to Tokyo Racecourse, leaving the Shiroi quarantine facilities at 10:55 AM and arriving at the international stables at 12:49PM.

"She"s been shipped from Canada to France and all the way here, but she"s traveled really well. She"s been eating well in quarantine and she"s very fresh every morning. We intend to weigh her tonight and see if she"s lost any weight on the way here. Christophe Soumillon galloped her the day before she flew in, so she probably won"t go out on the grass and do any strong work till the day of the race. I"ll check with our trainer, who"ll be here on Friday, but tomorrow she"ll just trot and see what the track is like."

"Including the long journey to Japan, everything up to now has gone smoothly. She"s already regained the weight she"s lost coming here. I"m in touch with our trainer everyday, but I"m not sure yet when her gallop will be. Tomorrow, she"ll jog and do a light canter."

"She was very calm and laid back during the trip from the quarantine stables. She did lose some weight because of the long overseas journey, but she has a good appetite so I"m not worried. Our trainer will be here to check on the horse later this afternoon, so he"ll probably decide then whether our jockey will do any strong work with her tomorrow."
