60th Running of the Yasuda Kinen (G1)

Training Report of Foreign Entries

June 3, 2010 (Thursday)

<at Tokyo Race Course>

BEAUTY FLASH (NZL, g5, chestnut)

- jogged 1/2 lap, cantered, galloped on stretch (turf course)
(exercised from 7:36 AM to 7:49 AM, ridden by Chung Hon Tse)

"He's handled the transportation coming here like a professional. He's eating well and it's a big surprise that he hasn't lost any weight. I'm very happy with him. He was very relaxed during the easy gallop he did this morning, and I was very satisfied with his performance.
The turf is very fast here and I think it'll be a very tough race, but I think this horse can handle this kind of going and that this type of course will suit him. He's still a very young horse, and we'll see how he finishes this time. He'll probably improve more, but obviously I brought him because I know he'll perform well.
He will come out fast and race near the front on Sunday."

FELLOWSHIP (NZL, g8, bay)

- jogged 1/2 lap, cantered, galloped on stretch (turf course)
(exercised from 7:36 AM to 7:49 AM, ridden by Hau Lai Suen)

"Due to the change of environment, it has taken two or three days for him to settle in. He's a bit lighter but he's been fed and has drunk well, and the next couple of days before the race will be a great benefit to him. Prior to coming to Tokyo he trialed very well so he wasn't asked to do much this morning. He pulled up fine and seems to be pretty fit.
Regarding the left-handed course, as the other horses I've brought to Japan in previous years adjusted to it, I trust Fellowship will do the same. He's a little bit lighter than what he wants to be but I don't think that will be a factor in his performance.
The horse is in his peak form, and in his career I think the timing for him to compete among international Group One level is just right. To be able to save ground, an inner stall (barrier draw) would help him."

SIGHT WINNER (NZL, g7, bay)

- hand-walked in the stable area

"Yesterday afternoon, he walked out of the stable not perfect, and we discovered that his front left foot had a sore frog. They made a special shoe for him and it seems to have given him some relief. This morning he's walking quite comfortably on that and we'll keep an eye on how he does.
If possible, we are hoping to race him on Sunday. I'm not galloping him tomorrow. I'm not particularly concerned whether he gallops or not, the most important thing is that he's sound."
