At Kyoto Racecourse

EVA'S REQUEST (IRE, f4, chestnut)

- walked appr.500m, jogged appr.300m, cantered appr.800m, on dirt course
(exercised from 7:11 to 7:22, ridden by Amy Routledge)

"We kept her workload light this morning. She's in the same good condition after her exercise. Her tune-up is going smoothly and as planned, and she seems to be in the same form as when she was in England. Tomorrow she'll be galloped, and her training will be kept light on Saturday morning.

"Our horse is a very earnest horse that gives a hundred percent in every race, so we're hoping that she can be able to save her energy and at the end of the race, give everything she's got. The condition of the turf being soft right now suits her very well but whether it gets more firm or soft, I'm sure she can handle it. The climate here is about the same as October in England so she's adapted well. (Regarding the draw), a starting gate from 1 to 10 would be nice."

SAHPRESA (USA, f4, bay)

- walked appr.500m, jogged appr.500m, lightly cantered appr.1,000m, walked appr. 400m, cantered appr. 1,200m on dirt course
(exercised from 7:11 to 7:35, ridden by Vincent Vion)

"In France, we obtained the data of the Japanese horses running in the Mile Championships, and after studying their time records, we decided to race our horse here. I asked my staff to let her recover from the long trip to Japan while they were in quarantine at Miki Horse Land Park - things went well and she has. She is very honest, her form is very well-balanced, and she has determination to win. Our tactics for the race will be decided after the draw, but we hope it is an even number so she won't have to wait for the others to get loaded. "

(comments taken from trainer Rodolphe Collet)

"I immediately thought she would do well in major events when I rode and won with her in France. She's a keen horse so I think she can keep up with the fast-paced Japanese races. I've scored two Mile Championships in the past (2001 with Zenno El Cid, 2005 with Hat Trick), but this year I'm honored to be able to race with a horse representing our home country."
