At Kyoto Racecourse
EVA'S REQUEST (IRE, f4, chestnut)
- walked appr.300m, jogged appr.400m, cantered appr.200m, galloped appr.800m, on turf course
(exercised from 7:35 to 7:45, ridden by Amy Routledge)
"Today's exercise was very good, and she seems to be in fine condition. As we entered the straight, she was very alert as her ears were pointed straight upward, and I knew she was very happy. The condition of the turf was ideal - it has a good cushion. A surface with as much cushion is better, but I think she can handle a firm track also. She's the type that gives a hundred percent, and it doesn't matter whether the turns are right or left-handed. I'm sure the fast pace of Japanese races will suit her also.
Tomorrow we'll do a canter on the dirt course, and on Friday, we'll probably do the same kind of work as today, only a bit stronger, on the turf. She'll do a light canter on Saturday, and we'll just hand-walk her on the day of the race."

SAHPRESA (USA, f4, bay)
"We plan to train her on the dirt course Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. It hasn't been decided when we are to gallop her - we're waiting for instructions from the trainer."
