  Masayuki Hatakeyama (exercise rider)
"She continues to be in good form, and her work this morning was superb. You can't ask for more than that. She's kept her weight since the last race and I think she'll weigh in around 430 kilograms on race day. We're going up against some pretty strong competition so I can't say a whole lot about our chances. But I think she could have a moment if she can save enough for the final straight."

Hiroaki Kiyoyama (exercise rider)
"The last race didn't take much out of her, so recovery was quick and that made the work for this race really easy to do. She was absolutely outstanding in her final workout. Her rhythm, her movement, it was all there. In terms of potential, I think she's up there with the best of them. If she runs to the best of her ability, she will be in the game, and we will not be surprised by it."

Hidetaka Otonashi (trainer)
"For about three days after her last race, we had to focus on recuperation. She raced on a surface that was in pretty bad shape, and it clearly took a toll on her. She's looked at ease this week, and I'm confident she's race ready. The opposition will get stronger, but I'm counting on the distance bringing out the best in her. It's been just two weeks since the previous race, but all things considered, her movement has been very good, especially at the end."

Yoshiyuki Arakawa (trainer)
"Her finishing was sharp today, just as we had hoped she would be. We're not putting too much stock in her last race because of the conditions; we drew an inside barrier, and the course really favored an outside draw. She will really like the Tokyo mile because the straight is long and roomy. I have confidence in her form, and it will come down to when and where the jockey gives her the green light."

Noriyuki Hori (trainer)
"She's been working out at the stable since the last race. She's so full of energy it's hard to tell how old she is. Her movement has been sharp, and I think she has enough talent to win a Grade 1 title. Now it's up to our opponents, and the pace."

Katsuichi Nishiura (trainer)
"She was quiet over the first two furlongs, but she still has that fire within her. She ran up some fast times last week and the week before, and she's completely shed her winter coat now. I think she just likes this time of the year because she looks great. I had practically given up in her last race, but she came out of nowhere to finish strong. After a race like that, you have to like your chances. It'll be her third race of the season, and she's in the best form she's been all year. The Tokyo mile should prove to be an advantage. I think the horse is just itching to race because she was forced out of action for so long with the broken bone. There was talk of retirement last year, but she's shown a lot of spirit in coming back the way she has. And as long as she has that, she'll still have a lot of good races in her. I just want one more trip back to the winner's circle before we send her back to the farm."

"I know there's one outstanding horse in the group, but when you look at the field overall, I think this race will be easier for my horse than her previous one. I checked everything I wanted to check with her in the last race, and this time, I expect us to produce. I was wondering how she would perform given that it was her first race back, and that she was racing with 56 kilograms. She may have finished seventh, but she wasn't too far behind the winner. I personally got a lot out of the race. She's not built like a filly, and she's very easy to ride. Consistency is definitely one of her attributes. I'm not thinking too much before the race. The game plan will come to me naturally after the draw, when we know who's in where. I'll do the best I can. It won't be easy to beat one of the best thoroughbreds of all time, but she's shaped up well and I think she's more than qualified to receive the torch – if it is to be passed on. I'm more than motivated because I'm riding in a Grade 1 race with a potential winner."

Tadao Igarashi (trainer)
"We pushed her hard last week, so we kept it light today, which is what we usually do with her. She had a little time off, but she put in a lot of work at the farm and with this horse, she usually performs better when we space her races. I think she'll weigh in at just under 420 kilograms or so. The mile is a good distance for her, and if the pace is right, it could get interesting. It's probably best for her if she came off the last turn on the outside. The last race was a little long for her, and the pace didn't suit her so we're not losing any sleep over it."

Yasuo Tomomichi (trainer)
"She's come along much better than she was in the autumn, when she was bothered by all sorts of things like sores in her mouth. The Tokyo mile is a fair test, and against the girls, she's got every chance in the world as long as she handles the trip. Her workout was about the finishing strong, and that went well. She had a thin appetite last year, but she's stuffing her face right now. She was probably at about 70 percent in her last race; now, I would say she's close to perfect."

Yasuhito Tamura (trainer)
"I know we were on the waiting list, but we'd put in our work so we're ready. There's no problem. She's the type who gets better the more she runs. Running lefthanded, especially at Fuchu, is a plus for her. It all comes down to where we make our move at the distance of 1,600 meters."

"You have to remember in the last race that she was coming out of a long break, and that she was carrying extra weight. The Tokyo course will be good for her, and the mile is probably her best distance. We just have to be positioned well somewhere in the middle of the pack, and save her for the stretch."

Toyoji Nishihashi (trainer)
"She was accelerating well, her action was great. We just wanted to check on her finish because she went all out last week. I have no complaints whatsoever with her form. She's grown up fast recently, and I know this is a Grade 1 race, but I have more hope than fear even though we're going up against some really tough competition. We have nothing up our sleeves; we'll make our move on the straight, and we're looking forward to it. A little rain wouldn't hurt, either."

Yoshinori Muto (trainer)
"You can disregard the last race because of the rain and the awful surface. But she hasn't sustained any damage, and looks like she's in solid form. There isn't massive improvement, but I think she can handle the mile because she's got the speed to keep up with the pace. Whether she can accelerate when the race quickens will be the key for her. We're in a tough field, but hopefully she'll have her moment at some point in the race."

Hidenori Kubota (exercise rider)
"We didn't do much more than go through the motions, but really, she's moving so well at the moment. I think her condition is picking up with the weather getting warmer and warmer. Her appetite is big, and things couldn't be going smoother right now. Her hips are much stronger than it used to be, and that's what's led to a couple of strong performances. But as I said, she's moving incredibly well right now, and we're hoping her form will give her a chance."

"I think she was outstanding. She moved very well last week, and again this week. If you base it strictly on the workouts, I would go as far as to say that she's in the best shape ever. She's definitely better than last year, that's for sure. I was expecting a lot from her (in Dubai) because she was in great condition, which made me wonder even more about what happened in the race itself. It's a must win race for us; we're racing against female horses only, and at Tokyo's 1,600 meters, where we've had the results in the past. She's not an easy horse to ride because she can be temperamental. I'll be riding with the utmost care – again. We could probably do without the outside barrier; we got beat last year, so I want to make sure we win this year."

Hironori Kurita (trainer)
"We were only 0.7 seconds off the pace of the winner last year. If she can stay in her rhythm, then it should get interesting for us. The workout went according to schedule, and everything has worked out since the last race. She's shed her winter fur and looks good right now. It's obvious that she's on the rise going into the race. I don't see the mile at Tokyo working for or against us. The only concern I have is the weather. It would be nice if we raced on firm going."

Kazu Sato (exercise rider)
"The workout went exactly according to plan. She can have a bit of a temper, and is inconsistent. But if she's in the right frame of mind, the results tend to be there. A lot of it comes down to what kind of a mood she's in on race day. We think the Tokyo course will suit her. Physically, she seems good but she has struggled in graded races, and seems to struggle staying at the pace of the mile."

Zarema (5yo, mare) Zarema

Hidetaka Otonashi (trainer)
"The jockey (Katsumi Ando) said she was on the heavy side last week, but she was sharp today. Which is probably a good sign because we certainly didn't want her peaking last week. She'll drop a bit more weight after the travel to the racetrack, so I think she'll be just about right on the day of the race. Her workout partner doesn't hold back so she may have looked less impressive, but the jockey said she's burned it off. I think this workout will take her right where we want her to be. She hasn't been able to win a graded race because of tough luck, but she does have the quality to win it, and the mile is a good distance for her."
