Tres Rapid, Fair Breeze arrive for Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup

Two European contenders scheduled to run in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup - France's Tres Rapid and Germany's Fair Breeze - arrived safely at Narita Airport on Thursday, November 6.

Tres Rapid, a 3-year-old filly, landed first at 7 a.m. and was transported to the JRA Horseracing School Quarantine Center in Shiroi City at 9:43 a.m., completing a 16-hour trip from Paris. Five-year-old mare Fair Breeze arrived several hours later, landing in Narita Airport at 10:38 a.m. and arriving at the Quarantine Center at 13:30 p.m., enduring a 22-hour trip from Krefeld, Germany.

Both horses will prepare for the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup to be held on November 16 at Kyoto Racecourse.

"The horse is in fine condition. She'll go to the track tomorrow and have some light training," said Ludovic Gadbin, assistant trainer for Tres Rapid. "We hope to run well and get great experience. We hope to answer everyone's expectations."

"She is in good condition, but after a 22-hour trip, she seems to be a bit nervous," said Fair Breeze assistant trainer Stefanie Hofer. "She will not run the tracks tomorrow. We'll walk her around and check her condition."

Fair Breeze, 7 wins in 25 career starts, won the Group 2 Prix Corrida (France) in May, following up with a third-place running in the Group 1 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen (Germany) this year. She is trained by Mario Hofer and owned by Stall Margarethe.

The Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup will be run over 2,200 meters on the right-handed turf course at Kyoto Racecourse.
