Training Report of Foreign Entries

June 1, 2006 (Thursday)

<at Tokyo Racecourse>

BULLISH LUCK (USA, g7. bay)

--jogged 1/4 lap, galloped from starting gate, cantered
(exercised from 7:43 to 8:01 on dirt, ridden by Wai Kit Mo)

"Compared to last year, his form is physically about the same, but his attitude is more mature and professional."
"His work is all done in Hong Kong but we gave him a jumping start just to sharpen him up towards the race."
"Tomorrow will be just a slow canter for about 2 laps on the dirt course."

JOYFUL WINNER (AUS, g6. bay)

--jogged 1/2 lap, lightly cantered 1 1/2 laps
(exercised from 7:54 to 8:07 on dirt, ridden by Shu Man Tam)

"The horse is almost in tip-top condition. Tomorrow our jockey Darren Beadman will ride him on the turf course and gallop him for about half a mile. I understand that the ground is faster in the inner side of Tokyo's turf course, so we need to form our strategy based on that."
"This horse has raced well in mostly 1,400m races in Hong Kong, but he's a mile horse and I'm sure he can show good leg in the end even in a tough Tokyo mile race."

THE DUKE (AUS, g7. bay)

--jogged 1 lap, lightly cantered 1/2 lap, cantered 1/2 lap, walked 1/2 lap
(exercised from 7:43 to 8:08 on dirt, ridden by Dwayne Dunn)

"His training was light this morning, and he seems to be in very good shape. Tomorrow the jockey will ride him and give him a strong gallop on the turf course. I walked on the grass this morning and it seems to be in good condition. This Sunday, we hope to show a performance worthy of such a big race as the Yasuda Kinen."
"The other two horses from Hong Kong seem to be in good form too and should be strong candidates. Among the Japanese horses, HAT TRICK who beat us in Hong Kong looks like a tough horse to beat."

(Comments taken from C. Fownes)

"I rode him this morning and I think his condition is great."
"I have the impression that the track here at Tokyo is very wide and enables a clean race so I believe all horses have a good opportunity. Our tactics would probably be racing from mid-field and I'm looking forward to a strong late run."
