Training report for the Yasuda Kinen (G1) (as of May 31)
Training Report of Foreign Entries
May 31, 2006 (Wednesday)
<at Tokyo Racecourse>
BULLISH LUCK (USA, g7. bay)
--cantered slowly 1 3/4 laps, walked
(exercised from 7:45 to 8:01, ridden by Wai Kit Mo)
"I'm happy with his progress. After returning from Dubai, we entered him in the Champions Mile (HK G1). Despite that he wasn't driven at the end of the race, the winning time was the same as when he won last year."
"He was blocked by a horse in front at the stretch and wasn't able to catch the leader at last year's Yasuda Kinen, we believe he has a better chance in winning since he's in better condition this year."
"Tomorrow, we will gallop him on the dirt and do a jump start from the chute. Our jockey, Brett Pebble will be here tomorrow morning, but Wai Kit Mo will ride the horse because he knows the horse best."

JOYFUL WINNER (AUS, g6. bay)
--cantered 1 1/2 laps, walked
(exercised from 7:46 to 8:03, ridden by Shu Man Tam)
"He still has a good appetite and he has eaten well since we moved him here to Tokyo Racecourse."

"The training at Shiroi must have been very good. He's shown development since the last time I've seen him. We're planning on breezing him with the jockey, Darren Beadman, on Friday."
"I checked the turf course this morning. It's a beautiful course and we're looking forward to racing this weekend under the great conditions."
"I still need to do more research on the Japanese horses, however, when it comes to bloodlines, I think we're facing a pretty strong field. For instance, TELEGNOSIS seems to be a very good contender."

THE DUKE (AUS, g7. bay)
--cantered lightly, cantered strongly, walked
(exercised from 7:45 to 8:05, ridden by Dale Bussey)
"His workout was not heavy this morning but his condition is very good and is actually getting better. His training tomorrow will be on dirt, and be light as well."
"We intend to do some stronger work with him on Friday with the jockey, Dwayne Dunn on board."
"Among the Japanese horses, I think HAT TRICK, who ran well in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Mile (G1), will be one of our biggest rivals. I see the last year's video, and ASAKUSA DENEN looked like a strong horse too."
