RESULT OF THE 42ND KINKO SHO (JPN GII)
Third favorite KONGO RIKISHIO demonstrated a sound performance to win this year's Kinko Sho marking his second grade race victory, with favorites ROSENKREUZ and ERIMO HARRIER finishing in second and third.
After breaking from the outermost post position in the field of ten, jockey Y. Iwata steered the bay colt to take the lead before the initial turn with SAFETY EMPEROR, ERIMO CHARMANT, ERIMO HARRIER and BLUE TORNADE chasing the pace 2 to 3 lengths behind. In the backstretch, ROSENKREUZ and ERIMO HARRIER traveled in midpack of the second group led by BLUE TORNADE, waiting to make their bid while the frontrunner continued to stretch the lead.
Turning for home, ROSENKREUZ fought impressively from fourth position passing fading BLUE TORNADE in the last sixteenth, but never imposed a threat to the leader KONGO RIKISHIO who kicked clear to post a 3 length victory. Second favorite ERIMO HARRIER, with star jockey Y. Take on board, dueled in the last strides narrowly winning over BLUE TORNADE by a nose, finished third.
