Training Report of Foreign Entries

<Tokyo Racecourse>

FOREIGN ENTRIES-JAPAN CUP

WARRSAN (IRE, h7, bay)
--walked 1/2 lap, cantered 1/2 lap on turf
(exercised from 7:43 to 7:55, ridden by P. Reape)

"He did very well this morning. Compared to his condition upon arrival in Japan, I'm glad to see that he is more relaxed. He weighed 483 kg's yesterday. I assume the race will be a tough one seeing so many outstanding foreign contenders here. His position in the race will depend upon the pace. The post position we've drawn is great."
(comments taken from C. Brittain)

BAGO (FRA, c4, dark bay or brown)
--jogged, walked, cantered on dirt
(exercised from 7:47 to 8:05, ridden by T. Gillet).

"The colt is settled in and is relaxed. Preparations for him are all going smoothly. I will be riding him again tomorrow morning, and the training will be about the same as today. I'm looking forward to seeing a large crowd on race day."
(comments taken from T. Gillet)

OUIJA BOARD (GB, f4, bay)
--strong canter 1/2 lap on turf
(exercised from 7:45 to 7:55, ridden by K. Fallon)

"We plan to hand-walk her around the stables only and not take her out to the tracks tomorrow morning. She's in the same good condition."
(comments taken from E. Dunlop)

"She was in great condition this morning. I'm very happy about the draw (No. 6). I hope the race on Sunday will be a clean one." (comments taken from K. Fallon)

ALKAASED (USA, h5, bay)
--6 furlong canter (stronger on the last furlong)
(exercised from 7:43 to 8:00, ridden by L. Dettori)

"I'm very satisfied with the way he has been tuned up. We will lightly canter him on dirt tomorrow morning." (comments taken from L. Cumani)

"His training has been managed and cleared as planned, and I can't ask for a better shaped horse. I plan to position him in somewhere off the pace, and gear him up little by little." (comments taken from L. Dettori)

BETTER TALK NOW (USA, g6, bay)
--did not enter track today

"We decided not to take him out to the tracks today after seeing his condition. His training for tomorrow will be decided after consulting with the trainer." (comments taken from A. Rolls)

KING'S DRAMA (IRE, g5, bay)
--jogged 1 lap, strong canter 1 lap on dirt
(exercised from 7:49 to 7:58, ridden by C. Hunt)

"Under instructions from the trainer, I did some strong canters with him today. He's in great condition. I'll be talking with the trainer again later to decide on what kind of work we'll do tomorrow. It was funny when we found out his draw was number 15 because it's the same number he's been wearing for morning workouts here."
(comments taken from C. Hunt)

Foreign Entrees - Japan Cup Dirt

ECCENTRIC (GB, g4, chestnut)
--cantered 4 furlongs on dirt
(exercised from 7:50 to 7:55 by K. Reed)

"I'm happy that the horse has been brushed up to the point where he is, but when it comes to the draw.... We hope he breaks well and can sit in a good position--at least in midpack, but no one really knows what's going to happen."
(comments taken from A. Reid)

LAVA MAN (USA, g4, dark bay or brown)
--jogged 2 laps on dirt
(exercised from 7:45 to 8:00 by A. Romero)

"His condition is very satisfying. We've tuned him up as planned, and all is but to wait for race day. He won't be taken out to the tracks tomorrow. We'll just hand-walk him around the stable area."
(comments taken from L. Mora)

TAP DAY (USA, c4, dark bay or brown)
--did not enter track today (hand-walked in the stable area only)

"The horse is in the same good condition. We are well prepared for the race. I can't say for sure what's going to happen because it all depends on the race development, but I have my own race style and I intend to ride in my usual way. The draw is perfect."
(comments taken from E. Coa)

Comments on the Draw for Post Positions

Foreign Entrees - Japan Cup

WARRSAN (IRE, h7, bay)
Bracket 2
Post position 3

"Compared to last year's 16, we are delighted that we picked a number we were hoping for." (by C. Brittain)

BAGO (FRA, c4. dark bay or brown)
Bracket 6
Post position 12

"We were hoping for somewhere in the middle, so we are happy with 12."
(by T. Gillet)

OUIJA BOARD (GB, f4, bay)
Bracket 3
Post position 6

"It's not too much in the inside nor the outside, so we are all very pleased with an ideal position." (by Lord Derby)

ALKAASED (USA, h5, bay)
Bracket 7
Post position 14

"It's always the horse that is most important, so I'm not worried about the draw. 14 is the lucky number I won with Singspiel." (by L. Dettori)

BETTER TALK NOW (USA, g6, bay)
Bracket 4
Post position 7

"This position in the middle goes well with the horse. Also, 7 is always a lucky number." (by G. Motion)

KING'S DRAMA (IRE, g5, bay)
Bracket 7
Post position 15

"It's not really what we hoped for, but he's a good breaker so I don't think this position will work against him." (by C. Hunt)

Foreign Entrees - Japan Cup Dirt

ECCENTRIC (GBR, g4, chestnut)
Bracket 8
Post position 15

"15 isn't exactly a great position, however since he's a frontrunner, we believe our jockey will handle him well." (by A. Reid)

LAVA MAN (USA, g4, dark bay or brown)
Bracket 1
Post position 2

"We are very happy with the draw. Besides the fact that there aren't any gate boys, I'm not worried about him because he's always laid back in the starting gates." (by L. Mora)

TAP DAY (USA, c4, dark bay or brown)
Bracket 4
Post position 8

"It's a good position, not too out and not too in." (by E. Coa)
