Card & Results

LOHENGRIN, the champion of the YOMIURI MILERS CUP in 2003, won this year's race to claim back his title after last year's runner-up effort. This will be his third grade-race win including the Milers Cup and Nakayama Kinen in 2003.
The race broke off with MIGHTY SPEED eventually taking the lead to set the pace, followed by third favorite LOHENGRIN on the inside in second and 7th pick PRECISE MACHINE traveling in third. Drawing even with the frontrunner at the end of the backstretch, LOHENGRIN traveled wide through the last two corners and took the lead in the homestretch. PRECISE MACHINE also surged out from the pack behind LOHENGRIN and closed in on the leader in the last 200 meters but was a neck short in second. ASKUKA DEN'EN who had trailed second from last through the backstretch, steered to the outside after the last corner and produced an impressive burst of speed in the homestretch to finish 3rd, 1-1/2 length behind the runner up.
